RESNA’s Developers Showcase allows for developers to gain feedback from conference attendees on their projects. Developers can obtain feedback from engineers, assistive technology professionals, and clinicians. Along with obtaining feedback on designs from other professionals, products can win awards by sponsor organizations. One such organization, TREAT: Center for Translation of Rehabilitation Engineering Advances and Technology provides an award for products that most closely represent their mission. TREAT works with developers of assistive and rehabilitation technologies to provide education, consultation, and assistance in the effort to help products reach commercialization.

Out of 27 participants, the LiveWell RERC projects, Gaitbox and iMUp, were selected as joint winners of the 2019 Developers Showcase TREAT award. The Gaitbox is a low-cost device design to capture a person’s walking speed in a clinical setting. iMUp is a mobile app designed to monitor and identify different posture movements in a hospital setting. Specifically, the app is designed to track a person when laying, reclining, sitting, standing, and walking with the goal of identifying areas of improvement in movement and displaying information to a clinical team. Both projects are actively under development. To read more about the GaitBox, visit - http://www.livewellrerc.org/gait-box.
