Emerging technology for patients with cognitive impairments
This talk by Tracey Wallace will describe opportunities and challenges offered by technologies used to support cognition in patients with cognitive impairment. Both restorative and compensatory approaches to using technology to support cognition will be discussed. Examples of new and emerging technology for cognition (ATC), including several LiveWell RERC technology products, will be provided. Evidence-based methods for effectively teaching people with cognitive limitations to use ATC and other technologies will be discussed, including the role of interdisciplinary team members and caregivers in support of training, generalization and maintenance of technology-based interventions.
